Sign of spring?
Today I woke up to hear a little bird singing in the garden. The first sign of spring!

Well, spring hasn't come yet, it's cold outside, but it will come eventually, perhaps!

I have lots of things to do today: wash clothes, clean the house, write a letter to go with the novel, mark students' work, phone people about new courses etc...

I'm very busy! Too much to do!

(Welsh version here...)

Current Mood: busy

Our magpies seem to have come back from wherever they were hiding. I spotted one of them on Sunday for the first time in ages. They seem to like our sycamore tree for meetings, though Sunday's boy was on his own.

Not seen the robin lately which is a little worrying. He spent a lot of time with Best Beloved in the garden during September and October and became, if not tame, at least blasé about the human who turned over earth and found him some nice tidbits to eat.

Thanks to a tree trunk we have left on the ground providing shelter we have some primroses in bloom here in Hampshire! Ironically, none of the (many) snowdrops are out yet!

I really should plant more flowers. I have green black thumbs, but surely wild flowers would do OK? :)

I like bulbs for this reason. Once they're in, they tend to look after themselves. And yes, I think things like primroses and snowdrops would be fairly hardy.

Today I managed to get outside and discovered that actually quite a lot of the snowdrops are out now. Hurrah!
