Re the previous Note To Self...
For some years I have made a habit of looking back at a post I made in January 2009 about what makes a perfectly adequate Christmas. Unfortunately, the note that some cards have to go airmail now just serves to remind me that my old university friend from New York passed away just over 12 months ago. I also referred to visiting my Dad who died this April.

As the point of the post is to be totally upbeat and positive, I decided to do a slight re-write so that in future I'll see an updated version that has no overtones of sadness.

Current Mood: tired tired

I'm sorry about those losses. May you have a peaceful season.

Yes I have looked on some old post too this weekend.
Esp this year bought us, although nothing compared to yours, some losses and changes.
But I think it is good to look back, because now we have some distance to the worse things that happend and maybe can find some good aspects in they changes the brought.

That's one of the things I like about LiveJournal compared to things like Facebook. I like to look back on old posts and see what I was doing a year or more ago.

I love the previous post you mention. I want to make one for myself, but I really don't do much anymore!

I have a weird response to Christmas. I loved it when I was a child and teenager, but my mother-in-law and husband made it extremely stressful. Even though mother-in-law died many years ago now, the memory of difficult Christmases, plus my problems with SAD mean that I tend to dread the season.

Christmas is tricky in the memories it invokes. I am getting better about not having so much PTSD over it, bu still.

Oh SAD, I have heard of that, I hope I don't get it now that we have moved. Hang in there with it.

Hugz,
H

If you get cold bright winters, you should avoid the SAD. Also we're quite a bit further north than you so our winter days will be shorter. If you look at my latest post with the video of the rain, you'll see how gloomy it can be here even in the middle of the afternoon.

Oh that other post of yours, yikes! We will have to see how it goes here, the inversion layer can be pretty intense I hear, blocking out the sun. But it is sunny and chilly today :-)
