All ready for Christmas
I braved the rain and wind this morning to buy the last few things we needed for Christmas. This afternoon I put up the tiny tree, so now I can hibernate until next Wednesday.

Very relaxing with just the two of us.

We had a walk up the Wrekin today!

How pretty! Happy Christmas, I hope your holiday is restful.

Thanks. It's been very nice and restful, though for the first time ever, I'm getting a bit impatient for things to return to normal. Normally I just want to hibernate, but this is the first Christmas we've been retired and we have various projects of our own we want to make progress on.

A nice tree.

As for the cats and as we are normally not at home at christmas, we have none.

You know that the christmastree came to Britain by the prince consort of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, as he was a german prince?

Yes, I think a few of our "traditional" Christmas customs only started in the Victorian period due to Prince Albert. We do have some genuine ancient ones too, but now everything is all muddled up and it's difficult to say what came from where.

Yes, same here. My eldest niece brought some here after she has been several times, mostly as AuPair, in US back here.
I think thats fine.... but its nice to keep a bit track of where some customs came from. Some are even pagan origin... *giggle*
