Rain is forecast for tomorrow
First mowing of the front grass has been achieved! We've had a long dry spell but rain is forecast for the coming week so I needed to get the very shaggy grass mowed before it got completely out of hand. I'd have done it sooner, but the sprained wrist has been too painful until recently and then of course we were away in London. Anyway, the front is now tidy, the back will have to wait for the next dry weather.

I mowed around the clump of grape hyacinths because they are pretty. We've also got a couple of yellow Welsh poppies blooming by the wall. I attempted to introduce these a few years ago and it seems they might, finally, be establishing themselves.

Current Mood: accomplished accomplished

My lawns are rather meadow-like in the spring, and I end up mowing around various patches of flowers too. The lawn by the street has cyclamen, ox-eye daisies, two types of campanula, and wild violets. The lawn by the front door has small daisies, ox-eye daisies, and forget-me-nots.

We have Welsh poppies (meconopsis) all over the place, mostly yellow but a few orange. My ex was quite fond of them.

We have masses of daisies too, also dandelions, though I do try to get rid of those. Your mention of ox-eye daisies has given me an idea. They do wall round here, so it would be nice to introduce some of those.

I try to get rid of the dandelions as well, although once we had a near-white one that I saved. And we have lots of clover, both red and white.
