Reason for stopping: Time to iron clothes for tomorrow and cook dinner for G in time for him returning from the evening class.
Other:

I don't think there were any significant changes, other than the stupid little missing word or typo. I did rationalise a couple of alternate spellings in some of the orcish place names: Nizkhuvazh changed to Nizhkuvazh and the incorrect Azhygyvylchi amended to Azhgyvylchi.

I was astonished that the little computer reading wizard made a fair stab at even such weird names.

Reason for stopping: End of chapter. Need to iron a shirt and find socks for G who is in work tomorrow.
Other:

The novel is accelerating towards the end. I'm pleased to see that the pace of the story seems right, but also there are fewer mistakes so I make better progress with the read through. With luck, I will finish tomorrow.

Pauses to contemplate this.

Eeek!

This means I'll have to start sending it out. And begin writing the next one. Ooo, er...

Mostly, once again, it was catching the odd typo, but as well as listening to the little wizard read the story, I've been doing a day-by-day, chapter-by-chapter outline in the spreadsheet to check that the timings are right. There was a slight glitch in the way the time was passing, but I think I've dealt with that by the simple expedient of adding a short sentence to Chapter 14. All is now well again.

I want to try to do the rest in one swell foop tomorrow, to see if the climax works.

Then I can print it out. I should be able to do that around the plumber's visit to install the new dishwasher and service the boiler.

Otherwise the day has been spent wasting time on Usenet, though I did clean the bathroom and vacuum the landing and stairs and sweep and mop the kitchen floor. I'm hoping that once I have a working dishwasher again, the house will get cleaner and tidier as I get back into doing the daily routine cleaning that seems to have gone by the board while I've had to spend time washing up.

I do hope this isn't going to turn into a Saga. The company I ordered the dishwasher from phoned (as the web page said they would) to arrange delivery.

Company: Is Tuesday 31st all right?

Me: No, sorry. Tuesday isn't all right. Can you deliver on a Monday? Mondays are the only day we can guarantee that someone will be in.

Company: No, we don't deliver at all to your area on Mondays. What about Thursday?

Me: Thursday mornings are all right. Can you guarantee that it would be delivered before 11:30 am?

Company: No, we can't. You will be phoned the night before to tell you what time to expect the delivery.

Me: But if they tell me that it will be delivered in the afternoon, I'd have to tell them not to bring it because there'd be no one in.

*Thoughtful pause while I scan diary seeking inspiration*

Me: Well, I'm not actually in a rush for the dishwasher1. Could you deliver on Tuesday the 21st of February? That's in the half term holiday. Someone can be home that day. You see my husband and I are both teachers. We can't just take a day off when we want.

So the person from the company has put the order on hold and will phone again nearer the time in the hope that we can have the dishwasher delivered on a day when we might be there to receive it.

*Sigh...*

1 This isn't strictly true, but it isn't her fault that we live in the back of beyond and carriers don't deliver daily. If I choose to live in a distant rural place, I have to put up with some inconveniences.
