Dusk
30/52 for the group 2018 Weekly Alphabet Challenge

This week's theme was: D is for Dusk

Because the sun sets so late at this time of year, I didn't have the opportunity to go anywhere more interesting than the front garden.

You will note the completely cloudy sky. It's typical that after weeks of hot weather, drought and clear skies, the weather decides to change on the very evening that there's an interesting astronomical phenomenon, namely a lunar eclipse.

Aw, too bad you missed the eclipse. We couldn't see it here at all, of course. The proximity of the moon and Mars last night was pretty cool even without the eclipse.

I have seen a dramatic lunar eclipse many years ago when we lived outside town and had a wonderful dark sky. But it was annoying to think that if only the rain had waited one more day I could have seen another.

Wonderful picture. I love the contrast of warm lights and cold grey sky...

Yeah, the exactly timed change in the weather was particularly galling. I was about to head out with the camera to photograph the eclipse when the cloud came rolling in.

Boy that's true. Last year when we had The Eclipse, it had been gloriously clear for 10 days. And then...clouds. Dusk, I think,is my favorite time of day and I love this pic.

Thanks. I nearly forgot about the photo and rushed out just before bedtime to take it.
