In which an old dog attempts to learn new tricks.
I have achieved jam!
It's that time of year again, time for the photoshoot with the pots of newly made jam.

There weren't enough jostaberries this year for jam and I didn't collect any blackberries as there is still some blackberry & apple jam left from last year. But I did buy some plums because I'm very fond of plum jam.

Yum. The sight of homemade jam makes me want it for breakfast. Thanks for sharing all your pictures. I don't always comment on every one, but I do look and enjoy.

Thank you. I must admit I'm not as active on here as I used to be and Facebook with a button to click "Like" tends to make me lazy. But I do read my LJ several times a week.

I love home made jam.

I should put a little effort into mastering the art of making it.

It's not all that hard, though a jam thermometer makes things easier. I finally got round to buying one a couple of years ago and it takes a lot of the guesswork out of knowing when the jam has reached the right temperature.

You do have to be organised though, what with gathering enough jars and having a large enough pan. Ideally you'd be using home grown fruit and I'm hoping that next year I'll have enough jostaberries, but plums are not all that expensive and if you look at how much fancy homemade style jam costs, it works out OK.
