There was a ground frost last night, so I thought I'd experiment with the long lens and use its macro setting to do some close ups. This one was the only one I was happy with and even so I'm not sure it's as sharp as it could be. More experimentation required, though I think one problem might be a tiny bit of camera shake. The ground in the back garden is soft and uneven and my tripod is rather lightweight when the camera has the long lens on. Should I investigate sturdier tripods, I wonder? Perhaps I could treat myself to one for Christmas.
Update on TV watching: We have abandoned Dublin Murders. G announced that he didn't care about any of the characters and I can no longer suspend disbelief because the plot has gone off at a tangent and female detective has started working on a completely unrelated case and is about to try to pass herself off as a woman who has just been murdered who just happens to be her double. The series began so well, but it was starting to feel like a chore watching episodes.
Spiral the gritty French detective series which is always solidly reliable.
Giri / Haji the rather more stylish bilingual Japanese/English drama in which the Japanese detective is sent to London to bring back his gangster brother.
