It's Friday, so that meant a walk up to see my elderly friend. She says she really enjoys our visits and seems to think I'm doing her a favour, but I enjoy seeing her too and it makes me feel useful to do the occasional little job like refill the bird feeders. We have a cup of tea and do the crossword in the i newspaper and then the zygolex puzzle. And then the conversation turns to all sorts of topics such as the news (local and national), books and TV and whatever else happens to come up in passing. M is currently reading a Rosemary Sutcliffe novel and told me how she once corresponded with the author. She's also a big fan of Terry Pratchett, so I recommended the TV adaptation of "Good Omens", which has just started on BBC. I watched it when it first came out on Amazon Prime, but I may watch again now it's available for free.

Today's walk was 2.5 miles because I'd gone into the centre of town to pick up M's newspaper and also to buy a couple of new wine glasses, a birthday card for our daughter, and to collect my tablets from the chemists. Unusually, the prescription wasn't ready because they'd only just received the supplies, so after walking up to see M and doing a small food shop in the Co-op afterwards, I had to come back through the centre of town to call into Boots again.

Regarding walking, I'm contemplating doing the local Parkrun tomorrow morning because you can in fact walk the 5k course. The forecast is not good for tomorrow, but if I can get going in time, I'll see if I can pluck up the courage to give it a go. I know I can walk anywhere at any time, but having a fixed event and joining in with others might be fun. We shall see...
