It was only after he'd set off that I saw some concerning tweets about the buses not running. Anyway, we'd agreed that if the bus didn't turn up, he would phone and I would drive to collect him.
The bus was due at 4.30 p.m., but it didn't turn up, probably due to flooding on the route between here and Wrexham. Though we were fine and the flood on the playing field wasn't as bad as last week's flood caused by Storm Chiara, they had obviously had it worse inland.
G doesn't get on well with gadgets. Despite being a computer programmer, he has never used a mobile phone and has only recently been persuaded to carry the very simple, very cheap (£14) phone in case of emergency. In trying to make a call, somehow he managed to lock the screen, something I didn't even know was possible, but then after randomly pressing keys, he unlocked it and managed to call home and I came to his rescue.
I've told him that next time if there's bad weather he must check the buses are running before setting off.
