This is wrong in so many ways...

Firstly, which women writers were they reading? I mean Mary Gentle's novels are so focused on the domestic. Not! Most women work and have lives outside the home, even married ones with children. And anyway, domestic does not equal trivial. Yet again the male and overtly public/adventurous is valued more highly than the private and personal. Sigh...
