On breaking news

Something I just said to mjlayman in a comment in this thread about the security alert at Tesco stores reminded me of something...

As the full facts come in

This reminds me of an incident a few years ago. On the main BBC radio news at lunchtime the newsreader solemnly announced that they'd just heard of a train crash at Fairbourne. Further details would be announced when they had them. It sounded like a big story and we were rather alarmed as it's our local railway line.

The story was, however, rapidly dropped -- apart from a tiny update right at the end of the next bulletin. It was this railway. A couple of the little carriages had fallen over due to very high winds and the three or four passengers travelling on the train had been slightly shaken when they fell into a sand dune. No one was even hurt.

My first lolcath!

No, that's not a typo. I just couldn't resist doing a Welsh version of this when I saw the original on i can has cheezburger.

Bigger version can be seen here...

For those not familiar with the story of Branwen daughter of Llyr in the Mabinogion, Bendigeidfran the giant lay down across a river to enable his men to reach Ireland in order to rescue Branwen.
