Writing progress

Title: The one about dwarf miners (Still looking for a proper title)
Words revised today: 505
Total words in the story: 5300
Reason for stopping: Need to do other things

The urge to write -- or at least revise -- came back this morning and I sat down with the Eee and polished up the first 500 words of the very rough draft of the dwarf miners story.

Not sure whether this story is remotely saleable, but I did set myself the target of finishing at least 7 stories, which means I need to finish some shorts, saleable or not. :)

The return of my inclination to write may or may not be due at least in part to rasfc settling down and beginning to function as a writers' group again. With DF away travelling and JAD venting his hatred and loathing of the Brits (??!! Why? What have we ever done to him?) over in rasfm, the threads are, miracle of miracles! about writing or they're innocuous social bonding over food and cats.

Next step is to plan out another story so I can try the dictation while driving to work trick again. I've always said that I hatessss firsssst drafsssssessss, so if this avoids the Staring At the Blank Screen problem, I'm all for it.

Eowyn Challenge -- progress

Walking to Lothlorien

Miles travelled today: 9
Miles travelled so far: 17½ (475½ from Bag End)
Miles still to go: 444½
Percentage complete: 3.8%

Point reached on journey: I have passed the Ford of Brúinen, turned south on ‘narrow paths among folded lands’ and nearly reached the steep sided canyon.

Where I really went...

We went along the old railway track to Penmaenpool, crossed over the toll bridge (getting totally soaked in a downpour with hail in the process) and then climbed up into the hills before proceeding along the New Precipice Walk and dropping back down into Llanelltyd.

This was a walk I haven't done for many years and had sort of forgotten about. It is, however, G's usual "short" walk. (His other walk is about 20 miles, which he considers a mere stroll. Proper hobbit distances!) He was going out and I said I'd come if he wasn't going to go too far or too fast.

I don't have pictures today, though I may be able to tweak the ones I took with my phone. I didn't take my camera because I was walking with G who gets impatient if I stop and fiddle around. :)

To be honest I didn't realise it was 9 miles until I measured it; it only felt like about 7, but there was a long steep climb, so my legs are feeling it now.

Now to relax and watch TV for a bit...
