Eowyn Challenge -- progress

Walking to Lothlorien

Miles travelled today: 5
Miles travelled so far: 143 (601 from Bag End)
Miles still to go: 319
Percentage complete: 31%

Point reached on journey: Just left the place where we camped during the day. Weather still continues cold, grey and windy. (And it still continues grey, wet and windy in real life too!)

Didn't get as much done today as I'd have liked, but I did rouse myself later in the afternoon, went into town, banked the two big cheques we'd received[*], picked up the local paper, failed to buy a new Welsh tweed tie for G and then walked home an extremely long way round by heading out of town in completely the wrong direction and then circling back round and eventually arrived home, just before the weather broke.

One advantage of walking out in the countryside, as opposed to walking on a treadmill, is that you can't just give up and stop when you start to feel you've done enough; you have to keep going until you reach home. Also, at the point where you feel you're beginning to tire and thus might slow down a bit, a huge, ominous, looming storm cloud can get you sprinting for home instead!

[*] Redundancy money and a gift from my Dad, an unexpected spin-off of the credit crunch. He's decided that he was so worried about his money in the Halifax that he'd pass some of it onto my brother and I so that we could worry about it instead!
