Stop for a moment...

...to stand back from the milling throng at the graduation ceremony.

Yes, it's that time of year again, the annual pilgrimage to Caerleon for the graduation of my husband's students on the BA Education degree course. This year two students from the local college completed their degrees, so we went to support and congratulate them.

After we'd done the necessary mingling, we drove on to Merthyr Tydfil where we stayed overnight before travelling home today.

PS None of the people in the photo are our students. It was just a random selection out the milling throng who were taking photos and chatting after the ceremony had finished.

...for a snack on the way home.

This shot was taken in a lay-by on the way home from South Wales. We stopped briefly to have a snack and a drink and to admire the view.

This is part of a new section of road built to avoid a nasty dip into a deep valley where the river was crossed by a narrow bridge controlled by traffic lights. Over the years, the number of lights and the height of the pole had increased, but I think it was still an accident black spot, hence the eventual improvement.

In a few years time, much of this view will disappear because they have planted trees alongside the road, presumably to screen the road so it can't be seen from the surrounding countryside.
