Snowdrop

The (temporary) calm after the storm

We escaped very lightly in the horrendous storm that lashed the South and West of Britain. We did lose the power for a couple of hours, but I managed to cook most of the dinner on the little camping gaz stove and when the power came back I could finish it off quickly. No damage was done here, but we are tucked in under a hill, so unless the wind is coming from a very specific direction up the valley, we don't get the full force of it. Our local TV and radio transmitter was either damaged or had its power cut off because we had no TV or radio signal. However, as the power was back on, we watched the 100th episode of Midsomer Murders via the internet.

The coast was badly hit though. Caravans blown over in Aberystwyth, roofs badly damaged in Porthmadog and lots of people without power for many hours.

And apparently the storm due tomorrow is going to be even worse.

Can it be spring now, please?
