Lacking the right words

I'm still working on improving my Welsh because I'm determined to make the transition from reasonably fluent learner to confident speaker. Most problems now are lack of vocabulary where I start talking about something and realise half way through a sentence that I don't know the words I need.

Like this morning in the conversation group I didn't know the word "foundations" when I was trying to describe an old building we lived in once. It's difficult to know in advance what we might be talking about, so difficult to prepare, but I need to see if I can prepare a bit more by choosing something that I did the previous week or something interesting that I've heard about and look up the necessary vocabulary so I can talk fluently about it when I get the chance.
