Over on my FB feed, someone is talking about having just finished a jigsaw.

I miss doing jigsaws. We did them when I was young, but then didn't do them for many years. Cats and jigsaws don't mix, not to mention not having time for something so trivial when I was working and raising kids. But more recently, when I still had two elderly friends, they always had one on the go and would insist on visitors spending a little time with it and adding a few pieces. But when B died, M gave their splendid dining table to a friend and thus there was nowhere to put a jigsaw. So I don't get to do jigsaws any more.

I'm not sure I want to go as far as doing one on my own though (they're not good for my back, the way you have to lean over them) and there really isn't anywhere to put one in our tiny cluttered house. A fried says she does them online, but I don't think I'd enjoy that. Handling an actual pieces and pondering where it belongs is part of the enjoyment. There are those mats that roll up, or folding boards that hold your jigsaw safely while you put it to one side, but to be honest I can't really justify the time it would take when I have so many other things I should be doing.
