Reason for stopping: End of fight and time for bed. Also it's getting hard because I've reached an amnesia infested bit. Need to be fresh to tackle it properly.

Despite having driven all the way to Newport and back today, I thought I would do a little bit on the novel -- and found that I did quite a decent chunk!

The reason for the drive was to take G to the graduation ceremony of his students in Caerleon. However -- and this is where it gets complicated -- he didn't actually go to the ceremony because he is off to Czechoslovakia tomorrow to a conference. So, after doing the pre-ceremony mingling, during which I read Jo's Farthing in the car park, we had a brief walk to look at the Roman amphitheatre and then I drove G to Newport where I dropped him off vaguely near the centre in order to get a train to Manchester airport.

I then drove back alone. It wasn't a bad drive. The weather was hot and sunny and the traffic reasonably light. Strangely, the weather is always good for the Caerleon graduation ceremony. I suggested that the organisers must go and make sacrifices on one of the ancient shrines in the town to ensure good weather. I made myself dinner and then, as there was nothing worth watching on TV, I read more of Farthing and then revised the fight scene.
