People are starting to talk about NaNoWriMo again. Immediately I thought, "I can't do that; I'm busy revising." But then it occurred to me that, if I push on, I should be able to finish cutting/revising the already written chapters by the end of the month. Even if I haven't, it would be good to piggyback on the NaNo enthusiasm in order to do as much as I can of the rest of the novel. I just want words at the moment and I know exactly what has to happen. All I have to do is write it down.
I can't count it for NaNoWriMo, of course. Firstly there's no way I'll do 50K words during a month when I'm working, so there's no point in signing up. Though if I can plug into the NaNo frenzy, I might be able to do a decent number. Secondly this is just so not a NaNoWriMo project. For that you're supposed to be starting a novel from scratch or at least have no pre-written words of the actual draft (I think notes are allowed).
This novel has been in my head in one form or another for more than 30 years. I have at least 3 abortive attempts at it, all with significant wordages. But this time I will damn well finish it! Even if it is crap. *g*
