Or so they think. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
I had a narrow escape at work today. My HOCA (Head of Curriculum Area) commented that a colleague had phoned in sick and would not be able to take the new class that was starting that evening. He then said, ever so casually, that he didn't suppose I could do it, could I?
Aaargh! Nooooo! Tuesday is the one night of the week when there's a programme on the TV that I want to watch.
"Oh, dear," I said. "I would, but I'm expected home tonight. I have things planned." Of course I didn't say that I had planned to watch Life On Mars. "If only I'd known yesterday,"I added helpfully. "I could have made different arrangements." (ie I could have set the video!)
Muttering something about "Tryfan's already teaching tonight" and "I suppose I'll have to cancel the class," my HOCA went back to checking his email.
I just think Life On Mars is about the best thing on TV at the moment. OK, I'm probably biased because it's set in my home city of Manchester, right about the time I left it to live elsewhere, but the settings and period detail of 1973 are spot on and it has great characters and writing. And I'd already had to cope with the episode being postponed last week due to bloody football.
