Walking to Rivendell

Point reached on journey: In Middle Earth I've passed the point where the road forks and entered an oak wood. Now the wood has become more dense. The lane is running in a fold of hills, with hazel on the slopes alongside.

Tiny lambs seek the security of their mum.

The stone arch always seems a little elaborate to me for a simple barn. I wonder if it was originally one of the buildings belonging to the nearby medieval monastery?

Another view of the barn.

Spring is really here now. It was warm enough to go out without a coat. Just a sweater was sufficient. Lambs were running about in the fields, real spring lambs, born outdoors, not the artificially early lambs born in sheds in January.

I have to work tomorrow and Tuesday, but then, at last, a real holiday!
