Too much to do, so little time...

Quick update time, I think.

I'm hoping the end of the busy stressed period is in site. As it's lasted for more than 6 months, this is not before time. G has been the worst affected, but his stress has been flowing outwards and affecting me too.

Anyway, reason for not posting here for a while :

1. I have almost finished the photography course I've been doing with the OU (T189). I have chosen my panel of 10 photos, made the PDF slide show and answered one of the written questions. (2 more to go, but there're very short at 200 words each.) I did really well on the CMA (Computer Marked Assessment), but that was a mere 10% of the score overall, so won't make much difference to the final result. However, it was reassuring to know that I have absorbed the theory.

I am confident I'll pass and I predict a grade B because my work is, as usual, good but ever so slightly dull. My pictures lack that flair and brilliance that would give an A. Much like my writing then. :(

Oh, one unwanted side effect of doing the course was to, at a stroke, turn all my photos taken over the years to dross. OK, I exaggerate for effect. Not total dross, but they are (apart from the odd exception) totally blah. This is the down side of improving one's skills and knowledge.

2. General busyness at work. End of term looms. Courses are coming to an end. Lots of final tests and paperwork and leaver forms etc to process. G again seems particularly stressed by all this as the inspection in his college threw everything behind.

3. Visit to offspring this weekend. G and I went down to Cardiff to visit little Erin, who is now 4 months old. She now smiles and obviously recognises people she knows and looks doubtfully at new people, ie me! We had planned to go last weekend, but our daughter and husband had had to have their dog put down because his rheumatoid arthritis had got so bad. They were feeling a bit too down to have visitors, so we postponed. They just have the one dog now, Kiri the Rhodesian Ridgeback. I hope they don't get another to replace Theo because I feel they have enough on their plates with new baby and one dog.

As G hadn't been down to Cardiff Bay for a few years, we all piled into the car and went for a wander round. I find I can't take pictures and socialise at the same time, but I did grab a couple of shots of people wearing these newfangled powerstilt gadgets. They were bouncing about near the Assembly Building. I also snapped a skateboarder nearly coming a cropper. (See next post for pictures.)
