Other than work, I only have a quick trip to Cardiff to report. I went down there this weekend to visit the offspring and grand-daughter.
I went by train, setting off on Saturday morning. I did consider driving as it gives me more flexibility regarding the return journey (there are only two trains on a Sunday to Machynlleth (our nearest station)), however, I was glad I didn't as the weather was absolutely foul down in the south with charcoal grey skies, thunderstorms and heavy hail showers. The train trundled through it all perfectly happily, but it would have been very tiring for me to cope with.
As it was I had a pleasant journey both ways and managed to relax on the train, do some reading and listen to my iPod.
The family are well. Erin has got over the nasty cold/cough she has had and she's a wonderfully happy baby. She was a bit overwhelmed when she woke from her nap on Saturday to find 3 strange adults sitting on the sofas, namely uncle, auntie and granny -- but she was soon won round by shiny things, like watches and mobile phones. She's not quite 10 months old yet, but that girl is already a fan of jewellery and gadgets. :)
I must admit that I found being a granny much more fun this time. I am not a fan of small babies. I never have been and never will be. They just don't do much. But Erin now clearly understands and responds to words and she crawls and plays with toys in an appealing manner. She likes music and seems fascinated by words, whether they're in a magazine or on a sweat shirt.
