Quite a busy day. I did the final shop for the bits I didn't get on Monday. To my surprise, it was quite laid back in the local supermarket. From the sound of overheard snippets of conversation, most people had done the same as me and had done the bulk of the shopping already and were just getting odds and ends. I thought I wasn't going to be able to get eggs as the only packs left all had a broken egg in them. Then I thought, I don't need 6 eggs, 5 is fine. So I pointed out the broken egg at the checkout and said if they'd reduce the price, I'd have them, otherwise not. So I got the eggs for half price.

After lunch I drove to Machynlleth to collect our son. Mike set up the DVD player on the TV in his room (which doubles as an extra sitting room when he's away). It now works beautifully and he watched some of the birthday present I'd given him, namely the DVD of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. films. I knew he liked the series, but he revealed that he has fond childhood memories of watching my The Man from U.N.C.L.E. videos. He now intends to introduce his girlfriend to the series.

Cooked dinner for the three of us out of things found in the freezer and put the decorations on the tree. Very pretty. Also hung up the Christmas cards. Now I'm tired and yawning, but still have a few pressies to wrap before finally slumping for the evening. Also I need to print out another "gift certificate" for G as I can't find the first one I did. I might have wrapped it in with the bulk of the present, but I cannot for the life of me remember doing it. I remember printing it out. I remember going to find an envelope the right size for it. I remember writing the card, putting it into the envelope and sealing it and then -- nothing. A total blank. Sigh... It's just as well it's not a real gift certificate or I'd be tearing my hair out.
