Photos of a sunset

I walked 5.5 miles today, out along the old railway to take photos of the Barmouth Bridge and back. I've always liked this photo but it doesn't fit with the look of the set that I'm building for the Royal Photographic Society's LRPS (for which you have to submit a portfolio of 10 pictures). So I thought I'd have a go with the Canon 450D.

The walk out was pretty brisk because I was chasing the light. Then the walk back was also brisker than I'd intended because the light was fading. It was dark by the time I reached Penmaenpool, where I'd left the car, which by then had a film of frost over it. It was very cold for November. Usually it's still wet and mild at this time of year.

Sunset over the Mawddach

If you look carefully, you can see the railway bridge in the distance spanning the mouth of the estuary.

Train crossing Barmouth Bridge

I managed to catch the little train crossing the bridge.

This was my favourite of the batch. The colour deepened after this, but I love the subtlety and the little bit of reflected sunlight in the cloud.

Red sky over Barmouth Bridge

This was about the most intense. I decided I'd better head for home after taking this and the colour faded soon after.
