Yesterday I decided that I would use up the last of the lemons by making lemonade.
Unfortunately, the recipe was in a book that had fallen apart and subsequently been thrown out, but I discovered a different recipe in one of my other books. To make the lemonade...
Cranks Home Made Lemonade
Lemons 4
Raw brown sugar 6 oz (175 g)
Boiling water 1½ pt (900 ml)

Scrub the lemons, halve them and squeeze out the juice.

Place the juice and pulp in a large bowl or jug with the sugar and pour ½ pt (300 ml) of boiling water over. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon halves and another 1 pt (600 ml) boiling water. Stir well, then cover and leave to cool. Strain, squeezing out the juice from the lemon halves and serve.
The lemonade will win no prizes for appearance because it ends up brown. According the book, the patrons of the restaurant call it "Thames mud"! :)

But it does taste nice. :)
