Allowing yourself to have fun

Here in this post, matociquala is talking about giving herself the permission to do things that you're not good at and enjoy the activity for its own sake.

I know exactly what she means about needing activities that you're allowed to do badly at. Right now I'm pushing myself to write better, to take better photos and to learn a language and all those things are hard and take work. It's so easy to find that you're beating yourself up all the time and never allowing yourself to relax and have fun -- which is why I bought the ukulele.

Except I haven't played it for an awful long time. I need to rectify that.

Though I think I'll wait until G starts back at the college next week. No need to inflict my strumming and warbling on anyone else. :)
