The new shiny has arrived!!!

The iPod Touch arrived safely this morning and it is now charged and synced with iTunes on the computer and fully charged. I have mastered the basics of navigating via the touch screen. About the first thing I did was get stuck in the calendar with -- apparently -- no way out! But reading the instructions revealed that the Home button is an actual button. Doh! I'd been looking for some kind of "Close window" icon. :)

I have things to do this afternoon and anyway I always like to take things slowly with new gadgets, but the next step is to work out how to get ebooks onto it, also photos. And after that, I need to look for useful apps.

Oh, and thank you to janetmk for mentioning that it has a timer. Since I stopped using the Psion 5MX I have been looking for a timer with a very gentle ring. The Psion used to be ideal, but it didn't make sense to keep it running just for the timer.

I have a kitchen timer for cooking which is loud -- as it should be -- but I also use a timer when marking assignments and I hate it beeping right next to me because it can really make me jump. The iPod has some lovely gentle sounds (plus some not so good!) that will be ideal.

Hee! It's going to be a really nifty little gadget. :)
