First steps in a new venture

It looks like there won't be any part-time teaching for me at the local college this year to supplement the online teaching I do. I am not unduly bothered. I enjoyed teaching the creative writing face-to-face for a change, but there aren't enough people locally to fill a class -- partly due to their being a free group that meet somewhere, the library, I think. Besides, I really do like the freedom and flexibility of being able to teach online, which means I can teach anywhere I can find an internet connection. As I proved satisfactorily this summer by completing the marking of the final assignments while travelling on the train to the Arctic Circle. :)

So... Today I finally got my act together and brainstormed a domain name, registered the domain name and signed up with a web hosting company.

Next job is to write some content, work out what I'm going to offer first and then see about finding some students...

It's very likely that I will be offering at least one writing course for free to people prepared to help me trial the system. (I want to set up a private online discussion forum as well as the materials on the web site.)

More news here when I have things set up and ready to test.
