It is, as is usually the way with these things, US-centric, but here is my response.
I've lost most of the accent I had as a child, but you can still hear traces of Manchester in the fact that the way I say it, "aunt" sounds identical to "ant" and I still pronounce the "g" on the end of words ending in "ing".
