Eowyn Challenge -- Isengard to Minas Tirith with Merry and the Rohirrim

Miles travelled yesterday: 3
Miles travelled so far: 7½ (1671½ from Bag End)
Miles still to go: 579½

Percentage complete: 1%

Point reached on journey: We have passed the pillar of the White Hand left after the Ents broke the hand apart and have now reached the end of the stone pavement. The highway continues and we follow it as night falls. The waxing moon rises.

Where I really went...

Bare tree

Somewhere I haven't been before, which considering I was just walking local paths around the town is not easy to do. I was going to walk up the bridleway to the little lane the skirts the foot of Cadair Idris, but there was someone riding a scramble bike up it and so I climbed a stile and went a different way to avoid the noise. This took me to somewhere I had been before, but instead of immediately heading down again, I followed a new path (or new to me at any rate) and ended up with some nice views of the town from a slightly different place. From there is was back down the road into town to buy wine for dinner and thence home.

Welsh sheep

These sheep were busy eating hay left by the farmer. It will soon be time for them to lamb.

Tree at top of the lane

It's amazing what a difference weather and lighting makes. This is more or less the same view taken just over a year ago in January 2010.
