Heather moorland square crop

34/52 for the group T189ers photo-a-week

This week's theme was: Square (ie the photo had to be square)

Taken on our mini-break earlier this week, the view across the heather moorland from the coastal path above Llan Bedrog on the Lleyn Penisula.

This reminds me very much of something I tagged on the Public Catalogue Foundation's tagging project.

One of the downsides of their site (and there are very few) is there is no way to 'favourite' a painting, so you can go back and look at them later. so I can't tell you who painted it, or where it was...

But it had the same quality, and I enjoyed looking at it as much.

Thanks. That's an interesting project that you linked to. It's a shame that you can't easily find your way back to a painting though.

Such a beautiful place! Your photos make me want to visit Wales. :)

Thanks. This place is a couple of hours drive from where I live, but all the different areas of Wales have their own particular charm.

Nice pun.

I am totally pun blind, so any pun was completely unintentional!

Wasn't it a picture of a square crop?

Hmmm... Heather and gorse isn't really a crop and nothing will even graze it. In fact if it gets too big, the farmers just burn it off. There is a field in the distance that looks pretty square, so perhaps that counts? :)

Well, yes, that's what I was looking at (since it was in the centre of the frame).

Nice composition, great colours. Also, I like the apparent right angle created by the hillside and the shoreline. My first thought was, oh it's the corner of a square reservoir. :)

In the photos I'll be posting shortly, it's more obvious that it's the sea rather than a lake/reservoir, but that stretch of coast is all crinkled with little bays and headlands, cliffs and caves and it would be perfect for Famous Five-type adventures. :)
