In which I get slightly lost, but it all ends well
G had meetings in Flint and Wrexham yesterday, which involved quite a lot of driving, so I volunteered to be his chauffeur for the day. The route to Ruthin used to be my daily commute and due to teaching in various centre out in the community, I know that area better than my husband does. However, Flint is somewhere I have never visited before, so it was venturing into unknown territory.

Somewhat to my surprise, we found our way to the school where G was meeting a mature student without any difficulty and I parked on a nearby street. I had taken things to do but because it was such a lovely day, it seemed a waste to sit in the car reading (also it would have got hot!) so I walked down the hill into Flint, just to see what it was like. Even on a gorgeous day, it had a slightly run down air. It's obviously a place that has seen better days.

Coming back, I decided to be adventurous and instead of plodding up the main road, took another road that I remembered from the map as curving up and around back to the school. And that's where I got lost. I should have taken the printout of the map with me, but I didn't think and so I managed to overshoot the turn and ended up circling the wrong school (though I didn't know it at the time) around their playing fields. By now I was very lost, but by asking the way several times, I eventually ended up back where I had been nearly half an hour before and made it back to the car only 10 minutes late. At least I got plenty of exercise!

I also managed to get a photo of the gorsedd circle that is not far from the school.

The leaves show that it's definitely autumn, but it was so hot it felt more like July.

Anyway, the rest of the day went smoothly. We got to Glyndwr University in plenty of time and I managed to do a bit of shopping while G was in his second meeting. I also had a very welcome cup of tea and a fondant fancy in the BHS café. :)

I reckon to have been lost in every city and town in the UK I have visited... It's a great way of finding interesting things.

That picture is very impressive. I like the angle.

I usually stumble across something interesting when I lose my way. It's a good excuse to explore. :)

Looks like a nice place to sit on a sunny day. Is that a bench on the left?

Getting lost is a good way to adventurize yourself.

lovely stone circle! Castle's pretty neat, too. Well worth a visit, if you haven't been there already.
