My Christmas reading

As well as reading Patrick Ness's Chaos Walking trilogy (for the OU Children's Literature course) I have just ordered something more... well... not to put too fine a point on it... silly. :)

Which means that next time a Jehovah's Witness asks me whether I have a Bible in the house, I will be able to respond, "Indeed I do. Which version would you like, King James, Revised Standard, New English or the Lolcat Bible?"

I discovered this new translation existed while listening to this talk on Vimeo. I can has language play.

In other news, I'm still not 100% convinced about Google+, but I have just added a whole circle of British people. At first I thought this might have been a horrible mistake, I suddenly had about 450 extra people in my stream, most of whom were not posting stuff I wanted to read. (Eek! David Cameron. Eek! Nick Clegg) But in the weeding process I have discovered a few really interesting people I wouldn't have come across otherwise.

It still doesn't feel anything like as intimate and friendly over there as it does here, but I suspect it will serve a different purpose and, for me, will be instead of Twitter and Facebook. Apologies to those of you who tweet, but I have never really found a use for Twitter and 140 characters is just not my natural length!
