A new path round Gwernan Lake

1/52 for the group 52 of 2012

This week's theme was: New

Having lived in the same area for over 30 years, it's rare to find a new local walk. However, I noticed recently that a new path had appeared around this lake. They have made new access points from the lane and built a board walk to take the path across the boggy ground at each end of the lake.

So today I walked around this beautiful local lake for the very first time. It was about 3.30 pm and the light was already starting to go, but this shot captures the cold grey January day.

Wow, that's really lovely! I'm so happy you're doing another year long photo project. Your picture posts are so inspiring!

Thanks. I like the photo-a-week groups. Committing to 2 photos a week is just about right: not too demanding, yet it makes me take photos, even when I don't feel like it or the weather isn't cooperating.

I know I moan when we get challenges that involve photographing people or would be easier to do in the city, but it's good for me to be stretched. Pretty views are all very well, but it's also good to try different things.

I really love the sight of grasses growing in water like this--what a lovely photo (and nice to discover a new walk).

Years ago, when we lived outside the town and not far from this lake, I've looked down on it from that hill you can see rising behind it, but I was technically trespassing. There was a path that ran to the far side of the lake, but due to the boggy ground, trying to walk around it was not a good idea!

When the weather is warmer, it might be nice to take a picnic and sit with a book on the far side of the lake looking at the mountain.

Here's to better weather. :) You can stop brewing up those storms and then send them over to us, lol.

This is easily one of my favourites of your photos.
