14/52 for the group T189ers weekly alphabet challenge

This week's theme was: Gloomy

Unlike the other weekly theme I had to find a photo for, this one fitted the weather perfectly! Normally this gate looks inviting, but today with an overcast sky and snow on the mountains, it looked quite gloomy with all the dark wet trees and the dark stone.

I'm not sure, but the stone building in the background may be an old fashioned "ty bach" (literally little house), in other words, an outside toilet.

Oh, I LOVE that gate!! I so wish I had one leading into a secret garden... What a beautiful photo. I'm so glad you shared it.

I'm glad you liked it. :) I too love walled gardens. I think it was at least partly due to reading The Secret Garden as a child. There is no way we could afford a wall round our garden though. Part of it is fenced with posts and sheep netting.

No, that's far too beautiful--that building in the background is a gateway to faerie.

That is really gorgeous. I love dark stone and greenery when it's damp. :)

Thanks. I love walled gardens, there is something special about them, whatever the weather.

My first thought was, an entrance to an ancient Nunnery and my mind wanted to race away to someone telling me a story about the residents and their history and why the Reverend Mother would not take in this one particular orphan girl...

You should write that story! :) I do envy them having a walled garden. Ours has low wooden palings and the extra bit at the bottom just has sheep netting round it because it was the cheapest way of enclosing it.

Reluctant as I am to criticise your exemplary photography, this one doesn't say 'gloomy' to me.

I agree with sartorias - a gateway to Faerie!

But faerie is often dark and gloomy! (She said hopefully.)

Let's just say that it's gloomier than it would be on a lovely sunny day. :)

And she would be right!
Faerie Scary!
But not always.
