Thank goodness it's raining again
Erm... I don't actually want it to be raining. Unlike the SE of England, we don't need it, but it was tipping down so hard this morning that I phoned the lovely elderly ladies and apologetically said that I thought it best not to come and walk Brith.

And then it stopped raining! Which was good because I nipped into town and did half a dozen useful things, but then when it remained dry even after I'd got home and had lunch, I felt bad that I'd made the wrong call over the dog walking. However, it is now raining steadily again and though Brith doesn't actually mind the rain, we would both get soaked and it really wouldn't be fun.

Instead, I will catch up online and make some more progress with my AS-level maths project.

Threatening rain destroys many good intentions.

One of the things I did this morning was buy my husband a new pair of shoes because the ones I bought him a few months ago aren't waterproof. So at least he went back to college after lunch with dry feet and should also return home this evening with feet that are still dry. :)

It's just now finally stopped raining down here in Kent after four days pretty much non stop!

The water companies should, perhaps, have kept their big gobs shut!

The weather station at the university, a few miles from here, has recorded about 12cm of rain so far this month. It's actually sunny right now, but it was siling down half an hour ago.

(I have it on good -- ie Danish -- authority that the local dialect "siling" for heavy rain is derived from the Danish, so we probably got it from the Vikings.)

Even in Wales we need rain that soaks into the ground. As a nation we are using about 10 litres more water a day than a decade ago – approximately 160 litres a day per person.

Even when we have normal amounts of rain, the high population density in England & Wales means there's less water available per person than in some Mediterranean countries who receive much less rain.

Climate change is likely to make droughts more frequent in the future.

Yes, there's nothing more irritating than fine weather after you've already called a rain day...
