Mallard duck SOOC, a photo by Helen in Wales on Flickr.

26/52 for the group 50 of 2012

This week's theme: SOOC (ie no post-processing allowed, not even a crop)

It wasn't a good week for getting Straight Out Of Camera shots. It has rained and rained and rained, so the light is useless. Normally I would have compensated by tweaking the shot in PhotoShop, but that isn't allowed this week.

Anyway, the rain eventually stopped long enough for a walk to Penmaenpool and back and an obliging duck gave me a suitable subject.

I love the "smile" on its bill. It looks like a duck with panache.

This duck and her partner came waddling over to me, obviously hoping I would feed them. I managed to get two shots in before she decided that food was not going to be forthcoming. She then decided that the camera was a dodgy bit of apparatus that was best avoided and she took off and flew down to the water.

Very nice,Helen! Looks as if he's looking for fine weather,or perhaps not :-)

I don't know whether wet weather really is nice for ducks, but this duck and her partner didn't seem too bothered. :)

I think this is a great shot. He's got a very contemplative feel to him.

She came waddling over to me, closely followed by her partner, obviously hoping that I would feed them. I managed to get two shots in before she realised that I didn't have any food. She then decided that the camera was a dodgy bit of apparatus that was best avoided and she took off and flew down to the water.
