30/52 for the group T189ers weekly alphabet challenge

This week's theme: O is for Olympics

Unfortunately, LOCOG's tight control of everything Olympic related means that outside the official adverts in and around London, towns couldn't put up any sort of decorations to celebrate the fact that the Olympics are being held in London this year.

However, rather unusually for this summer, we have a gorgeous day here on the day the Olympics opened and I snapped this shot of the Ship Hotel looking welcoming in the sunshine.

The contrast between the photographs of Seoul & Wales is marked!

I once had a meal in that hotel!

I wonder if our daughter served you the meal? :) She used to work there in the summer, Easter and Christmas holidays when she was a student. That would have been from about 1992/93 to around 1997.

Regarding the difference in the photos, leaving aside the very different architecture in the respective countries, the difference in photo quality is a) the quality of the light and b) the quality of the camera. If the light is rubbish, it's next to impossible to take a great photo, but when the light is clear and bright, as here, even a mundane subject can look good. Also the better camera records much more detail.

It was a lot earlier, so I think not. About '91.

You know I am a 'fan' of your photography; for my money you can do little wrong. :)
