Erin brushing a guinea pig

33/52 for the group 52 of 2012

This week's theme: Soft

I managed to go down to South Wales last week to see the children and the granddchildren. I especially wanted to see our new granddaughter who is just 3 weeks old, but it was also lovely to spend time with Erin (aged 5) and Will (aged 2).

The farm park was a good choice for a family day out with plenty to do and they would even lend you a guinea pig to gently cuddle and brush.

What a pretty girl - and what a well-behaved guinea pig!

The farm park seemed to have trained them to sit quietly on people's laps to be brushed. (There is a carrot just out of shot for it to nibble on if it wants!)

There were a number of guinea pigs in a pen and they were swapped round regularly, so they didn't get stressed by the handling. The brushing seemed to be the method they'd devised to allow the children to interact with a small furry creature without there being any danger of it being squeezed. A park employee was also hovering nearby to step in if needed.
