Moment of enchantment -- Day 14
Today's moment of enchantment is brought to you in the form of a haiku...

Surprise

From the clipped beech hedge
a kamikaze squirrel
bursts into the air

I was walking Brith at the time and though the unexpected eruption of a squirrel from the hedge was momentarily startling for both of us, Brith then ignored it and we continued our walk as it landed and scampered off down the road. :)

I imagine it still tells the tale!

It's just as well we weren't a car or it would have been a very flat squirrel!

I love this! (And I love squirrels. Funnily enough, when I was out this morning I just bought a new corn-cob-holding feeder for my local squirrels, so they won't starve this winter. It joins the two "regular" squirrel feeders, the seed-cake holder and the cob-holding squirrel bungee. ::facepalm::)

Our neighbours put out food for the birds, but end up feeding the squirrels too! Brith's owners also put out food for both birds and squirrels because the woods come right up to their garden fence, so they get many squirrel visitors.

I guess this must be what they mean when they talk about invasive squirrels!

It definitely invaded the road! But if it had tried that trick as a car was coming, it would very likely end up as an ex-squirrel.
