Shetland pony toned with gradient map

39/52 for the group T189ers weekly alphabet challenge

This week's theme was: T is for Toning with the gradient map

The original photo wasn't very exciting because I have had a busy week and no time to go out looking for something spectacular. Fortunately, someone has put a horse and tiny pony in the small field opposite our house, so I grabbed this shot to try the new technique.

I reather like the warmth that the gradient map has added to the picture and this is definitely a technique I will explore further. I have to thank Louisa (The organiser of the 52 week challenge) for another interesting challenge.

Here is the original for comparison

The grass in the toned photo looks like normal grass here at this time of year, well before the rains start.

It's not usually dry enough here for the grass to turn brown in summer, but a lot of the vegetation can look very brown in the winter when things die off.

What a wonderfully evocative shot.

Thanks. It's an interesting technique that I must experiment with again when I have more time.

Interesting. It looks like a useful tool to have in your armoury, although I'm not sure I'd know when to use it.
