39/52 for the group 52 of 2012

A selection of children's toys on the kitchen table. Or is one of them an imposter?

Here are the originals

Toys & Daihatsu originals

I'm not all that happy with the result, but a combination of being busier than usual and the usual rain and dreary skies led to this being a rather last minute effort.

Hehe, at first it looked like a toy car. Sneaky. :)

But on closer inspection, I think the shadow under the car doesn't match the other shadows and that's what makes you feel not all happy with it.

Yes, it's partly the shadow and partly the angle isn't quite right. I did try to adjust the lighting by darkening the windscreen, but I couldn't get the Daihatu's colour as warm as I would have liked.

Apropos of nothing other than your obvious ability with a camera, I'm wondering if there are any books/web sites you can recommend on digital photography. I've finally replaced my trusty but aging FujiFilm Finepix S3000 with a shiny new FujiFilm Finepix S4200, which has all sorts of clever features which I don't know how to get the best out of. I'm particularly thinking of using it for landscapes and (since it has a ludicrous 24x optical zoom) shots of birdlife and the like. Any ideas appreciated! :-)
