G had to spend last Monday in Deeside College which is getting on for 2 hours drive away. Rather than set off at the crack of dawn to get there for 9 am, we went up the night before and stayed overnight in the Holiday Inn a few miles away. Of course it turned out not to take quite that long, but it probably would have in morning rush hour traffic. Anyway, the hotel was comfortable and after dropping G off at the college on the Monday morning, I drove to Abakhan in Mostyn, a bit further west along the coast.
If you're unfamiliar with Abakhan, they sell knitting yarn and fabric and everything you need for needlework, knitting, crochet and many other crafts. As they didn't open until 9.30 am and I had arrived a little early, I went for a short walk to look at the Duke of Lancaster, aka The Fun Ship. Someone seems to have been painting the ship since that article was written.
There is a small market near the ship. Someone has decorated the supports for the stalls with pithy sayings.
I hadn't realised that there is a coastal footpath along the North Wales coast, but it was too wet and bleak to explore further that morning.
Another shot of the forlorn ship.
After purchasing more wool, fabric and felt for my craft projects, I had a very nice cup of tea and a toasted teacake in their cafe and then went in search of St Winefride's well.
