First snow on Cadair Idris

44/52 for the group 52 of 2012

This week's theme: Cold

The weather hadn't actually been very cold so I was at a loss for a subject, but then it turned colder and on Thursday we had the first traces of snow on the top of Cadair Idris.

this was quickly snapped with my phone and I hoped to go back and get a better version with the proper camera, but I ended up having to go out. Actually I think the snow has gone now, so it's lucky I caught it while it was there.

[As it's been a rather busy and occasionally stressful week, this will probably also have to be my off-topic shot for the group T189ers weekly alphabet challenge. I had a nice idea for a V is for Vintage shot, but it's half term and my husband is home, so no chance to set it up.]

It snows lavender and lilac on Cadair Idris, clearly! Beautiful.

Here too, we had the first snow squalls this weekend.

Perhaps "V" for palest violet? ;-)
It may not be the shot you wanted, but it's ... magical.

The colour came out a bit weird, but in a good way! It wasn't all that late, but it was rapidly turning to dusk and the colours had gone very blue on the photo as downloaded. This was my best attempt at getting it to more closely resemble what it actually looked like.

The snow is the tiny patch at the top. The lavender is more the "blue remembered hills" colour of distant mountains. :)

I'll miss seeing the snow on Ben Lomond and Ben Ledi this year as we won't need to go to Scotland for Christmas.

I haven't been to Scotland for years but we'll be doing our usual Christmas trip to London again. It's become something of a tradition.
