2/52 for the group 52 in 2013
This week's theme was: My Home Town
It's always a struggle to find decent light at this time of year, so this is a bit grey.
I've tried photographing in the centre of town before and during the day it's all too congested with vehicles. The lovely old buildings are swamped by cars and buses. Early in the morning is the only time it's quiet -- and at this time of year, it's too dark to see anything!
So, I snapped this on the way up to my dog walking appointment. I'm standing on the northernmost edge of town looking south towards Cadair Idris.
As the population is only around 2700, it ought to be classed as a village rather than a town. However, a village doesn't have: A hospital, council offices, two supermarkets, a weekly animal market, auction house, an FE college, a secondary school, a junior school, a library (with archives), a police station, doctor's surgery, two dentists, two car showrooms, numerous pubs, hotels and cafes and a fire station.
So it's village-like in size but town-like in character. The discrepancy is because it's the centre for many small villages and all the farms dotted around the area.
