Blackberries by Helen in Wales
Blackberries, a photo by Helen in Wales on Flickr.

...gather some blackberries.

The blackberries in the overgrown and brambly part of the garden have done well this year. We have had several blackberry crumbles already.

This evening I took a break from lesson preparation to walk down the garden to pick more luscious blackberries. This time I added some apple as well so there would be enough crumble for tomorrow as well. :)

I have had a number of blackberry based desserts over the last two weeks. Indeed, there is a now-empty bowl next to me as I type that ten minutes ago contained blackberries and cream. :-)

I think these were probably about the last, though I might be able to find enough for a small crumble if I add some apple as well. I gave up going out blackberrying because if I make jam, I'm the only one that eats it, so now we just pick the ones in the garden and leave it at that.

They were very nice indeed. And now they are all gone. :(

Looks delicious! You wouldn't believe how expensive they are here at the moment. Out of season, of course.

I don't think I've ever seen them for sale in shops. Round here you're just expected to go and collect your own!

wow

My mother and then my wife used to bake blackberry pies for me on my birthday. Can't eat them now ;+)

Re: wow

That's a shame.

I have to admit that I'm rather lazy and tend to make crumbles rather than pies these day. It involves less mixing and no rolling out.

Beautiful. And delicious, I'll bet.

There are some growing in my backyard. I picked one today--it was indeed delicious.

They were very nice indeed, though I'm coming to the end of the ones in our garden.

Wonderful picture! We have some nice ones growing in our garden at the moment, but they don't look quite as impressive.
Sadly we still have no kitchen, so I can't store anything.

These days I just pick the ones in the garden and leave it at that. I gave up going out blackberrying because I never knew what to do with a lot of fruit. If I make jam, I'm the only one that eats it, and we're not great jam eaters.

I love blackberry jelly but I doubt the blackberries will still be around by the time the kitchen is finished.

Yum! What a great photo. Your post reminds me of picking Boysenberries in Oregon when I was little. Buckets and buckets of them :-)
