Eclipse photos
I was mostly interested in watching the progress of the eclipse and hadn't set things up to enable me to photograph it, but I did quickly try to capture the sun at the eclipse maximum. Here it is...

Solar eclipse

I also tried to photograph the weird gloomy quality to the light. Many of the photos of the eclipse make it seem as though the sky goes black. Here in North Wales the eclipse was only partial (87% or thereabouts) so though the light dimmed, it only went twilightish, not pitch dark. But still strange for that time of day on a cloudless morning.

I think you get a total eclipse in parts of the US in a few years time in 2017. Perhaps you'll be able to watch that one?

I hope so, thank you for the tip. I wonder if I will remember but at least it will probably be in the news.

We had a spotlesssky. As we had no foil we used a very old camera as laterna magica. K took some photos with his canon D70 without looking through by 1/8000

I'm glad you got a good view of the eclipse. I remember seeing the one in 1999 through thin cloud, but many friends saw nothing this time so I was really lucky.

Very cool! I love the caption on the first photo...

The caption was essential for the interpretation of the tiny white curve. :)

Excellent photos. Always difficult to show quality of light. We had a grey day that got duller until the sun burned away the cloud. Had a glimpse of the waning eclipse through thinning cloud with just a small bite out of the sun.
