Victory!

Today I was supposed to be marking assignments, but it turned into a lovely day, so instead I went out to do battle with shrub roots. Years ago, when we moved into our house, one area of our front garden was planted with rather unattractive shrubs. Some years later I cut them down, wanting the whole area just to be grass. However, every spring the shrubs tried to re-grow, despite me hacking off the new shoots. Eventually I managed to dig out a few of the roots, but it was extremely hard. So hard in fact that I gave up for a while left them, though it made mowing that bit very difficult and I had to use the strimmer on that area. I bided my time, cutting back any shoots that appeared, hoping the roots would die. It's taken quite a few years, but today I managed to get them all out, using a pickaxe. Victory is mine! :)
